The yoga-sutra of Patanjali in its second aphorism describes yoga as the “inhibition of the modification of the mind” in tantra yogic ritual techniques of concentration and eye to eye contact play a central role. The tantra yoga outlines a comprehensive system of experimental technique with combination of mantra, mudra, asana, pranayama, dhyana drawing all senses into participation with prime aim to accelerate the latent forces all ready in the human body. Tantric yoga asanas are simple and can be done with your partner or with a group of people. Tantra yoga asanas balance our nervous system and increases the amount of oxygen supplied to our brain.
SCIENCE AND YOGA
A study from western reserve university suggests that tantra yoga boosts the brain power and lower the risk of Alzheimer’s(memory loss). Science has now found says Pandit Madhusudan Shastri professional tantra practitioner, “our Rishi muni has found that the cells of human body that are subjected to stretching are able to grow better, adapt easily and survive longer. Yogis of India had a better understanding of the human body even thousand of years ago.”
ADVANTAGES OF TANTRA YOGA
The first step pranayama is concerned with regulating the breath in a measured way and letting the breath flow in and out rhythmically. Rhythmic control prevents dissipation of energy. Pranayama is used in conjunction with other disciplines of tantric yoga practice such as asana, mudra, mantra and bandha to regulate prana for purposive and directive movements. Blood flow is increased with augmented oxygen delivery to the tissues, with perfection of this practice the first sign of its effect begins to appear. The body slowly becomes more relaxed, calm, rhythmical and in harmony with inner elements, the face glow like sun, it is only when the adept has reached absolute perfection that prana will be felt rising through sushummna (the central channel of the subtle body) by arresting the flow of current in solar and lunar channels on either side of sushummna.
Our body is truly an excellent piece of machinery but like all machines, it is prone to breakdown under unfavorable conditions, with breakdown of the body mind becomes weak and self confidence is reduced. However, there is five tantric yoga poses. It will help to promote an overall health and will help channelize all the energy through the body.
1 . PADMASANA (THE LOTUS POSTURE )
Padmasana, the lotus posture, when one sits cross-legged with the right foot resting on the left thigh and the left crossed over the right leg, the posture of and the heel of the right leg on the left thigh and touching the abdomen. In this position one is required to sit upright with the head, neck and spinal column in a straight line in order to lessen the possibility of drowsiness. The eye are directed towards the tip of the nose and the hands are laid on the knees. Pandit Madhusudan Shastri explain that sitting cross legged in padmasana postures provides a stable triangular base on which the whole body makes a “closed circuit” of the energy field so that the currents do not flow out from the tips of hands and feet but are continually retained or ‘locked’ within the body circuit while the position is held. After mastery over the posture of the body, the next step is to build energy within the system by taking deeper breaths in order to fill the lungs from apex to base. So you absorb a maximum quantity of prana current.
2 . NAAV YOG ( BOAT POSE )
This tantra yoga needs one partner with you; sit in front of each other with legs stretched out. Now join the soles of the feet and raise legs upwards without bending while bending forward and holding hands on the side of the legs. Breathe in and out slowly. This tantric yoga will improve immunity as it flushes blood into all parts of the body. This energizes the cells in all areas. Immunity is also improved when the mind and the body are de-stressed. It is well known that functioning of the immune system gets affected under stress. This tantric yoga asana massage the liver, improve perfusion enhance elimination of toxins, etc. a healthy flow of blood makes the immune cells circulate properly in the liver.
3 . NARTAK YOG ( DANCE POSE )
In this pose both the partners start off facing each other while holding one hand, using the other hand to pull their legs up behind them from the ankles. This tantric yoga will reduce pain and stiffness and improve range of motion for millions of people affected with the crippling disease of arthritis. According to yogic concepts after practice this, diseases like arthritis and osteoporosis do not affect joints kept healthy in terms of blood circulation.
4 . KUKUR YOG ( DOWNWARD FACING DOG )
One person must first get into the downward facing dog position after which bend down and place your hands on the floor, lift one leg and place your foot on your partner’s shoulder and then lift the other leg and place it on your partner shoulder. Push your feet to reach his hips after sometime change your position. This tantric yoga pose work wonder in cardio vascular disorders because arteries and veins are massaged and kept elastic and thus blockages are prevented.
5 . BAKRA MERUDAND YOG ( SPINAL TWIST POSE )
The spinal represents growth or spiritual ascent in the act of becoming in this pose sit in a comfortable seated position with your knees touching with your partner, chest slightly forward hold your partner opposite hands which can only be accomplished by bending sideways by your waists in opposite directions and change position to repeat. This tantric yoga asanas are unique because they have the ability to recuperate the body. No cellular exhaustion occurs in life cells and in order to make them grow and survive, stretching is important.
